Winter arrived very late this year - quite unusual for us to have snow here so it was quite a treat to see the place transformed! Boris braved the weather to check that everything (including the fish!) was in order, whilst Buster opted to stay indoors and keep warm (wise old dog!)

TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence

We're very pleased to report that we have once again been awarded a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor - for the 7th consecutive year no less!

Our resident pheasant popped by a couple of days ago - we think to show off his magnificent winter attire! He certainly looked in better shape than the last time he visited in early October.......

Another successful scoop at the annual British Travel Awards! Once again, Bude won Gold for best UK coastal resort and Cornwall won Gold for best UK holiday destination. We can't say that we're surprised - we know exactly how special Bude and Cornwall are!

Bude Wins Again!

 

According to a Sunday Times 'Great British Summer' article published this month, Summerleaze Beach in Bude was crowned winner in 'Town - The First Resorts' category, firmly beating Fistral at Newquay into second place. Special mention was given to the sea pool, beach huts and wonderful restaurants (which, and we quote "give Rick Stein a run for his money!)

So our ever growing menagerie of wildlife here at Forda now includes a pheasant. He calls daily at the office to says hello, and knocks on the door for attention. Top dog Boris doesn't really know what to make of him!

For the 6th consecutive year, we have received a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
They told us "This achievement celebrates businesses who have consistently achieved glowing traveller reviews on TripAdvisor over the past year."
We are, once again, very proud of this award and extremely thankful to all of our guests who took the time to leave a review.

Spring Has Definitely Sprung!

 We've been watching these baby rabbits from our office window for a while now - they really do grow fast! It's been lovely seeing them playing in the spring sunshine - and they are now firm friends with our resident ducks!

A Record Turnout!

More people than ever before turned out on Christmas morning this year to take part in the traditional Christmas Day Swim to raise funds for Bude Surf Life Saving Club. Around 700 people braved the chilly Atlantic Ocean, making this years event the biggest yet! Well done to all who took part!

November saw  cause for a real double celebration - Bude scooped the Gold Award for Best UK Coastal Resort at The British Travel Awards, and Cornwall also claimed Gold for Best UK Holiday County/Destination!

The Sunday Times devoted an entire special issue travel supplement last weekend,  to what they described as 'the definitive guide to Britain's top beaches.'

We are very pleased to report that our very own Summerleaze made the cut, along with a recommendation for lunch at Life's a Beach (www.lifesabeach.info) for their delicious mackerel fishcakes.

This great spotted woodpecker has become quite a regular visitor to the lodges here at Forda. This picture was taken by one of our regular guests from the kitchen window of her lodge. Thanks for sharing Sue!

For the fifth consecutive year we have won TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence and in honour of our achievement, we have been inducted into their Hall of Fame.

Born to be Wild!

Lovely video of our little leveret being released back into the wild yesterday evening (and what a glorious evening it was!) This beautiful creature was rescued here at Forda back in February and has settled back in flawlessly! It was a treat to see her 'haring' around this morning!

Summer Carp

Our fishing guests have certainly enjoyed themselves this year at Forda.
All four ponds have fished really well (our current November guests are still bagging up!), and our newest Meadow Pond is now well established and the fish are steadily growing.
We especially enjoy seeing our younger guests catching the angling bug - even more so when they share their pictures with us!
